As a character-driven novelist, the ideas for my stories generally start with the characters themselves. Sometimes that means a team, sometimes a family, and sometimes a couple. A beloved secondary character in a novel might blossom in such a way that he/she commands a book of their own.
A team might be so significant to me that they evolve into an ongoing ensemble who continue to provide me with idea after idea, and, as a result, a series is born.
Below is a list of those novels that “go together”, either as a series or a matched set of spin-off titles. They’re mostly stand-alone reads (i.e. if you read them out of order, it’s okay). But here are my recommendations as to the order in which they should be read:
